Shallow Streets
20 November 2025 – 16 January 2026
On 20 November, at 6 pm., the exhibition Shallow Streets by Beatričė Mockevičiūtė will open at Drifts gallery.
In the exhibition, B. Mockevičiūtė focuses on optical experiences and the city’s hydrological research, drawing on the flow of street traffic, which still echoes the curve of the river that once ran here. The cars and their lights flashing by on the constantly moving street are juxtaposed with the human gaze, which, like the street itself, reflects the instability of the present time, yet also carries the promise of never looking away.
Leaving words and the street behind, the ears, carrying sound, are invited to pass by the footsteps and glances left here. The exhibition presents works created in collaboration with artists Marija Rasa Kudabaitė, Monika Kalin, Nerijus Rimkus, Ugnė Uma, Alanas Gurinas, Kazimieras Sližys, Jonas Narbutas, Adomas Kaikaris, and Dr. Rokas Kondrotas, a researcher at the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology.
On the opening night at 6:45 pm., Ugnė Uma will perform a song.
From here on, we will travel only by the force of the current. Such a clever liquid. A solution of thoughts yet to come – Monika Kalin
